SubaruKart and the class concept was originally the brain child of David Pickup from SRT and first came into fruition towards the end of 2004. APS joined the fold in early 2005 and took over the whole of the commercial side of SubaruKart in January 2006. SubaruKart is a kart company that is ran by kart enthusiasts. The only reason for the company starting was to encourage more people into the sport, there is nothing we like more than racing against 40 likeminded individuals. Being all to aware that the size of your wallet was what tended to win races, especially at the beginner levels we set about trying to find an engine that would be consistent in standard form and offer a reasonable amount of performance. The Subaru EX range of engines proved to be the perfect choice providing a level playing field, ease of sealing and needing very little modification to be used for karting.
Since 2005 Subarukart have been developing and promoting the use of the Subaru EX range of engines. They were convinced that they provided an ideal way of giving karters a level playing field where driver ability and kart setup were the most important factors, not the depth of your pockets.
Three years have seen the concept gain acceptance and in 2007 we had a fantastic year of racing.
The 2008 British Subarukart Championship is set to be even more value for money.
